How long are lessons?

 

Either 30 minutes, or 60 minutes based on your preference.

 

When will my lesson be?

 

After you get in touch via the contact page, I’ll email you back and we’ll arrange a mutually convenient time for your lesson.

 

I want to learn guitar but I don’t know exactly what I want or what that entails.

 

Finding your motivation and a starting direction is important and during the first few lessons we’ll work together to establish your unique goals and specific interests within the wide subject of guitar.

 

I want to learn a specific style/technique/audition piece. Can you help me with that?

 

If you have a specific focus in mind, let me know and we’ll gear the lessons towards that. Maybe you have a college audition coming up, or need to work on a specific area of your musical studies. My range of teaching experience includes teaching Music A Level, Composition, Sight Reading, Theory and Music Production as well as guitar and I’m more than happy to bring this to the table.

 

There are so many free lessons online these days, do I need a guitar teacher?

 

It’s true, there is a huge amount of amazing quality information online and if you’re focused, disciplined and have clear goals then you can probably find the resources you need. I always encourage my students to show me videos or articles they’ve found online. Where a guitar teacher can come in is to help with that direction and focus. A regular lesson keeps you on track to finish a specific task with an  deadline and performing for another person adds a whole new element to the process.

 

Are online lessons as good as in person?

 

A hot topic in 2020 and to answer in a word, yes! Most parts of the lesson are completely unaffected, and for the other parts, the technology works to our advantage, quickly sending and receiving backing tracks, sheet music and other resources. With that said, where possible and safe, I’m happy to give in person lessons too, if that’s more your style.
